2023 President's Message
A warm greeting to all shooters! We have made it past 125 years and I welcome you and all shooters to the 126th NJ State Trapshooting Championships, the Garden State Grand and NJ Zone trapshooting tournaments. It is an honor and a privilege for me to serve as President of this historic association. I would like to thank all of the NJSTA officers and directors, our state delegates, and our member clubs for their time and effort in promoting trapshooting in New Jersey. The NJSTA Board of Directors have been working diligently over the past several months in order to give our resident and out of state shooters the best shooting experience possible this shooting season. I hope that each of you would make it a point to visit and perhaps shoot at an advertised event listed within this program at each of our member clubs during the year. There are many fun, exciting and sometimes charitable tournaments offered by our NJ clubs that provide good targets, friendship, comradery and good cause. I would also like to personally thank all of our sponsors and advertisers. I ask that as you look through this program you notice and support, when possible, these advertisers and/or sponsors that have supported NJSTA and NJ shooting year after year. Even though it is a tough task to get youngsters involved with shooting sports in New Jersey, we have beaten the odds and two new youth trapshooting teams have been established and are currently being given a great foundation of sportsmanship and competition that can only help to grow our sport. NJSTA has donated roughly $5,000 in support of these teams. I am also happy to advise everyone that our member clubs have also supported the teams by deferring some of the cost incurred during their practice sessions. Any support of time and/or donations that you may give to our NJ youth teams would be greatly appreciated. I thank you in advance. Even though we continue to face challenges with Covid, supply chain shortages and rising costs, I hope these conditions will improve as we enter the spring shooting season allowing all of us to enjoy our great sport. In closing, I would like to wish all of our shooters from New Jersey and our guests from out of state, good luck and good health. Please remember to be safe. Firearm safety is paramount and everyone is watching. Please come out to as many New Jersey trapshooting events as possible for a Great Experience, and to help us make this year a huge success for all. Thank you all, Jeffrey S. Slimm, Sr. Jeff Slimm, President N.J.S.T.A |
